interactive map allows users to
utilise the service that monitors ships
in the port in real time. This service
is updated every 30 minutes and provides
an overview of the current situation
of ships berthed in the various terminals.
The name of the ships physically berthed
in each terminal are provided along
with the dates when the ships arrived
in port, the ship’s agencies that
represent them and their departure dates.
In addition, users can download a map
of the
Port of Genoa in a PDF format from the The Port section.

of Genoa, at its headquarters in Palazzo
San Giorgio, has an extensive and old
library, founded way back in 1903, with
more than 8 thousand books which are
presently being computer catalogued.
The books cannot be loaned, while the
reading room has the following hours:

with other planning structures and in
particular with the economic research

issued by the Port Authority of Genoa
are “Sailing List”, “Sailing

and targets. In any case, these are

to the current situation involving the

information about the lists of passengers who
emigrated to the Americas at the beginning of
last century and departed from the Port of Genoa.
| A33. Unfortunately,
the Port Authority of Genoa’s
archives do not keep records of the
emigrants who departed from our port
to the United States and Latin America.
Much of this material was lost during
World War Two. We suggest that you consult
the website of the Giovanni Agnelli
Foundation of Turin - www.fga.it
which has published many of the lists
of emigrants who departed for the Americas
between the end of the 1800s and the
first decades of the 1900s. You can
also consult the Ellis Island website
(the New York emigration museum - www.ellisisland.org

useful links to help you search for

Port for Children, a truly innovative
feature on the international port scene
dedicated to this broad segment of the
population, and available to schools,
was recently introduced in this website.
This section contains research materials
produced by elementary and junior-high
schools along with fairy-tales by authors
from our city dedicated to the port
and to the sea. |

| A35. Some fairy-tales
(see “The
Port of Ducks”) were specially designed
for children and young people in general,
and can be personalised and coloured
directly on the website through a user-friendly
