PASSENGGERS
Visiting
the historic Port of Genoa, where the new
Passengger Terminals, are located, means having
the opportunity to discover both the ancient and the modern
heart of the city that, perhaps more than any other in
Italy, has left its mark over the centuries on the history
of seafaring, merchant traffic development and related
economic aspects.
Combining a proud maritime
heritage with an extensively restyled waterfront, where
the
Maritime Station one of its most spectacular
symbols, Genoa and its port are making efficient plans
to welcome the numerous tourists who will visit the city
during the Genoa
2004 European Capital of Culture, an event
that will further strengthen the city’s role as
an important and historical trading and tourism crossroads.
Genova
Crociere was created in 1998 to increase the
number of passenger movements and its positive repercussions
on the city and territory. This initiative, which burst
into the international scene in 2002, is presented the
new Genova
Crociere and Portofino logo. There are 22 parties
to the agreement at the present time, headed by the Port
Authority of Genoa. There are also other institutions,
organisations and economic operators interested in this
tourism sector that are working together to create a complete
image of the city that is closely linked to both the port
and the territory. Among its many activities “Genova
Crociere” offers a welcome service for transiting
ships and passengers, while also creating valid tourist
offers aimed at an increasingly specialised and continuously
developing market. |
